Sleep Management

Snoring can cause huge problems in relationships. When your bed partner can’t sleep, your relationship suffers. That’s often what prompts people to seek treatment for their snoring, but they may be overlooking the costs to their own health.

If you’re snoring, then you may also have a condition called sleep apnea, which means you can’t breathe normally at night. If you have it, your sleep is being interrupted over and over all night, even though you may not know it. If you feel tired during the day, even though you spent plenty of time in bed, then this could be the reason. Not everyone who snores has sleep apnea, but snoring is a common symptom of sleep apnea.

Three sessions are needed to complete the treatment, with each session lasting only about 20 minutes. You’ll notice some benefit immediately after the first session, and then later treatments will continue to improve on that initial benefit. NightLase® treatment results have been shown to last for years.

Sleep Study

“Sleep is that golden chain that ties health and our bodies together” – T. Dekker

We’ve all been told that sleep is important and recent research is proving just how important it is. Good quality sleep can help to protect your health (physically and mentally), as well as improve our quality of life and safety.

Our body relies on sleep to repair heart and blood vessels. Chronic sleep deficiency is linked to increased risk of heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and stroke. During sleep, the brain is preparing for the next day, forming new pathways for learning and information processing. Lack of sleep may result in trouble with decision-making, problem solving, emotions and behaviour, and coping skills. It has even been linked to depression, suicide and risk-taking behaviour.

Even our productivity is affected if we are sleep-deprived. It takes longer to complete tasks, we experience a slower reaction time and make more mistakes. Even losing just one or two hours of sleep per night will affect our ability to function as if we haven’t slept at all for a day or two!

Have you ever been driving along, when all of a sudden you cannot consciously remember part of the trip? If that has ever happened, you may have experienced microsleep. This is something you cannot control and is caused by microsleep.

NightLase® Treatment for Snoring Management

We offer our FEMME members the latest treatment for snoring, which could make a huge difference in quality of life for both you and your bed partner. NightLase® is a noninvasive, painless treatment.

When we sleep, all of our muscles relax. When the muscles of the throat relax, loose tissue inside the throat may start to vibrate with every breath. That causes the sound of snoring. Sometimes, those loose tissues also block your breathing, causing your sleep to be of poor quality and not restful.

NightLase® involves the use of a laser to tighten the tissues of the throat. The procedure is painless. You simply open your mouth, and the laser is directed at the soft tissues at the back of your throat. The laser heats these tissues, stimulating them to tighten. The tighter tissues don’t flop into the airway and vibrate when you sleep, so you’ll notice less snoring. Many people also notice a difference in the quality of their sleep.
